Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, Katzie CRN Sponsors Seniors Christmas Party
The CRN team is hard at work preparing for a Christmas party for the community’s seniors on December 7. In addition to door prizes, refreshments, and door prizes, seniors can learn more about the movie industry in Maple Ridge and take part in viewing a holiday movie filmed in the community.

Revelstoke CRN Partners with Revelstoke Credit Union and Revelstoke Hospice Society to Host Seniors’ Workshops
The Revelstoke Community Response Network, the Revelstoke Credit Union, and the Revelstoke Hospice Society are pleased to present a series of workshops to help seniors stay safe from financial abuse and other forms of abuse.
There is one final workshop on December 5th at 10:00 at the United Church to wrap up the series. You are invited to stay for the United Church’s weekly Soup and a Smile lunch afterward.
The next in the series of workshops is on Identity Theft and Fraud Awareness.

Tri-Cities CRN Holds Vaccine and Healthy Living Event, Prepares for Upcoming Christmas Online Event
With contributions from Ken Kuhn, Regional Mentor – Fraser Valley West
On November 2, the Tri-Cities Community Response Network through the Tri-Cities Seniors’ Action Society hosted a free vaccine awareness and healthy living event, which was partially funded by Sanofi. The speakers included:
- Laura Tamblyn Watts, CEO of CanAge Canada
- Jia Hu, CEO of 19 to Zero
- Dion Neame, Ontario Pediatrician and expert in Immunizations
- Andrea Derban, RN, BC Public Health expert, and Immunization Promotion Nurse
Planned for December 16 at 1 PM, the CRN is hosting a free online Christmas event. Bring your favourite beverage and enjoy the company and stories of fellow seniors, and family and seniors’ caregivers.
On the agenda:
- Sharing your memories and stories of past Christmases
- Christmas trivia and music
- Lots of Christmas cheer and many laughs and goodwill to share

Beaver Valley CRN Activities Going Strong
Multi-tasking at its best! Beaver Valley CRN Coordinator Jayme Fowler and the CRN team held Wellness Wednesday for the community’s senior ambassadors, baked up a storm to contribute items to the Fruitvale Craft Fair bake sale, hosted a workshop on heart attacks this month, and got ready for Christmas.

Regional Mentor Jas Cheema Talks Abuse Prevention with Soroptimist International of the Langleys
Jas Cheema, Regional Mentor – Surrey, South Surrey, White Rock and Langley was the guest speaker at the Soroptimist of the Langleys’ monthly meeting on November 1 where she presented on the different types of abuse, the statistics, and how people can help.
Soroptimist International is an organization of business and professional women who work to improve the lives of women and girls through its programs with the goal of social and economic empowerment.

Wii O’om’ Niin CRN Celebrates Halloween and Gitanmaax Elders On October 26.
The Wii O’om’ Niin Community Response Network is located in Hazelton in northern BC between the cities of Prince Rupert and Prince George in the district of Kitimat. One of the oldest communities in northern BC, Hazelton is a village of 300 people, with nearly a quarter who are ages 65+. The area is home to Gitksan people (Gitanmaax, Glen Vowell and Kispiox). The Wetʼsuwetʼen community is also located nearby.
Wii O’om’ Niin is Gitksan for “We Love You”.
