World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is June 15th, 2025.
WEAAD brings communities together each June 15th to promote the dignity and rights of older adults. This global movement, launched in 2006, combines education, advocacy, and celebration to create a world where aging is honoured, and elder abuse is eliminated.
This year’s theme “Be Bold – Age with Attitude” celebrates the strength, wisdom, and resilience of older adults while promoting their right to live free from abuse and discrimination.
Across British Columbia, BC CRN’s 90+ Community Response Networks (CRNs) are preparing events and awareness activities. Be sure to check this page for updates and opportunities to get involved—whether by attending or hosting an event in your community.
Wear purple on June 15 to show your support and help shine a light on the importance of aging with dignity. Let’s stand together to celebrate aging and take a stand against elder abuse.
