On Wednesday, April 22, a special reception was held to honour Dr. Gloria Gutman and to celebrate the renaming of Simon Fraser University’s Gerontology Research Centre in recognition of her extraordinary contributions to gerontology, to SFU, and to communities across British Columbia and beyond.
The celebration took place during the 2026 John K. Friesen Conference, Climate Change in an Aging World. This year’s conference examined how climate change and population aging intersect to influence the health, resilience, and social experiences of older adults and the communities in which they live.
BC CRN was honoured to participate in the conference as an exhibitor and to join in celebrating Dr. Gutman, an esteemed member of our Board of Directors whose leadership and vision continue to shape the field of aging in profound ways.
