The Wildflower Way: Supporting Older Women Experiencing Gender-Based Violence

The Wildflower Way is a new resource from the Canadian Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (CNPEA), with support from Women and Gender Equality (WAGE) Canada, aimed at improving services for older women who have experienced gender-based violence.

It provides practical tools and guidance for human services professionals to respond in ways that are trauma-informed, relationship-focused, and inclusive of older women’s needs. The approach also helps connect these efforts to broader equity and inclusion work.

BC CRN will be piloting the Wildflower Way in the new year, helping communities and service providers try out this approach to strengthen support, promote healing, and make lasting improvements in how services are delivered.

CNPEA held an introductory webinar on November 26. To learn more, you can watch the recording here: The Wildflower Way – Equity-Oriented Care for Women 55+ Who Experience Gender-Based Violence.
