RCMP Launch New National Reporting System to Help Protect Canadians from Fraud and Cybercrime

Online scams and fraud continue to affect thousands of Canadians every year, especially older adults, who are often targeted because of their trusting nature and financial stability.

The RCMP has launched a new national website called Report Cybercrime and Fraud to make it easier for people to report these crimes and get help.

This simple, step-by-step system allows anyone, individuals, families, or organizations, to share details about online fraud, phone scams, and other cyber threats. Reports are collected by the RCMP’s National Cybercrime Coordination Centre and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre to help police identify patterns, stop scammers, and prevent others from becoming victims.

If you or someone you know experiences fraud or a cybercrime:

  1. Stay calm and write down what happened including dates, amounts, names, and any contact details.
  2. Report it to your local police and your bank.
  3. Visit Report Cybercrime and Fraud and click Report online to share what happened.

Even if the individual is embarrassed or unsure, their report matters. Sharing their experience can help protect others in their community.
