CRNs in the Community: Shining a Light on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

On June 15th, Community Response Networks (CRNs) across the province joined together in powerful and creative ways to recognize World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD). Through events, activities, community walks, proclamations, information tables, purple-themed lights and campaigns, and more, local CRNs helped raise awareness about adult abuse, neglect, and self-neglect—issues that too often remain hidden. Their efforts not only brought these important topics into the spotlight but also helped break the silence, challenge ageism, and promote the dignity and rights of older adults.

The photo album below showcases some of the meaningful actions taken by communities across BC to mark this important day. If you have photos or stories to share, we’d love to see them.  Please submit them using our Event Photos and Stories Form.

Thank you to all of our amazing CRN Coordinators, Regional Mentors, volunteers, community members, and partner agencies for all of your efforts and dedication!  Together, we’re building safer, more respectful and inclusive communities for everyone.
