Golden is a town located in the Columbia-Shuswap area in southeastern BC, and is near to the BC-Alberta border. It’s home to just under 4,000 people: 15% are seniors 65+. Historically, the town has been associated with the logging industry, and got its name in 1884 as a one-up over a nearby lumber camp that had been called “Silver City”. Golden is also known as the home of Kicking Horse Pedestrian Bridge, which is longest freestanding timber frame bridge in Canada.
