Her practice has seen her working with folks across the lifespan in many roles. She has experience working in the child welfare system as a front-line social worker and as a child and youth mental health clinician. She has worked as a medical social worker. She was a faculty member in the School of Social Work and Human Service at Thompson Rivers University (TRU) supporting students on campus and in the on-line programming teaching in the Human Service Diploma program, the Bachelor of Social Work program, and the Post-Graduate Certificate in Child & Youth Mental Health program. Marian has experience as a Social Work Manager. She was the Clinical Supervisor and acting Executive Director at a non-profit Indigenous organization, the Director of Student Affairs at TRU and later the Clinical Service Manager at a publicly funded treatment centre. She has had an active Private Practice since 2012 supporting both voluntary and mandated individuals through 1 to 1 and group counselling offerings. She is committed to a balanced approach supporting individuals who have experienced harm and those who have caused harm. Marian loves acting as a navigator and connector in community and contributing to change. She has contributed to community change extensively through her commitment to volunteering, policy development, community development support, and community education. As a lifelong learner Marian holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work, a Diploma in Family Therapy and a Post Graduate Certificate in Child & Youth Mental Health. She is committed to challenging herself on an ongoing basis which is evident in her regular participation in professional development opportunities.
