Regional Mentor
micki.materi@bccrns.caMicki has been the Okanagan Regional Mentor since 2013. She has a 30 year history in the non-profit women-serving sector. For 20 years she led a women’s-equality seeking organization which played a leadership role in community development and collaboration. She also engaged in a number of projects as a Contractor/Consultant including a project to support women coming out of transition houses to access long term housing and community supports, a project designed to assist women being released from prison to connect with their communities and achieve their health goals, and a project to develop a strategy to improve access to services for women in a local community. She also works for an Anti-Violence organization as a Co-Executive Director.
Her active participation on a variety of community, regional and municipal committees over the years, addressing issues of poverty, violence against women, mental health, Homelessness, addictions, and diversity enabled a greater appreciation for collaborative cooperative partnership building. She believes in working collaboratively at a community level to enhance our ability to improve quality of life for everyone. Micki is a strong believer in the concept of lifelong learning and growth.
