JQT Seniors Initiative Community Response Network

The JQT Seniors Initiative is a Community Response Network of Jewish, LGBTQ+ and seniors healthcare organizations, addressing senior social isolation and loneliness in our communities, as well as the fear of going back into the closet and/or hiding one’s religious and cultural identities upon entering Assisted Living and Long Term Care in BC. The initiative produced THE BC JEWISH QUEER & TRANS SENIORS RESOURCE GUIDE, a report card on what we can and cannot expect in the Jewish community, in the LGBTQ+ community, and in healthcare as Jewish queer and/or trans people in BC in the year 2023. While this resource guide is specific to the Jewish LGBTQ+ community in BC, we hope that this step-by-step outline will serve as a template to help additional religious and/or cultural groups navigate care for their local older queer and trans community members.
