World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is on Saturday, June 15, 2024. The slogan for this year’s event is “Age with Attitude”. Here are a couple tech tips to get you ready to share and tag your event on social media, posters and banners.
This Year’s Theme
The World Elder Abuse Awareness Day 2024 theme was just recently announced and is:
- bOLD: Age with Attitude
- Some logos still include the sub-theme of Building Strong Support for Elders
Tag Your Location
Wherever your event is located, or however you celebrate WEAAD, tag your location to raise community awareness. You can do this through adding a “check in” to your Facebook post or using a hashtag:
- Check in:
- Mobile: open a new post and click the red map pin labeled ‘Check in’ and choose or search a location
- Desktop: open a new post and find the icon under ‘add to your post’ and follow above instructions
- Hashtags:
- Use the # symbol in front of the name of your neighbourhood, business, city, or province (#Kootenay #VancouverIsland #BellaCoola)
Popular Hashtags to Include
Hashtags help add your message to a global conversation. People often search for a topic using hashtags so consider tagging your content with as many topics as it may apply to. Here are a few of the hashtags we recommend using with the topic of elder abuse prevention and aging with rights:
- #WEAAD2024
- #AgeWithAttitude
- #AgeWithRights
- #StopAgeism
- #HealthyAging
- #Seniors
- #OlderAdults
- #Elders
- #VulnerableAdults
