Our Top 3: Resources for September

  1. Be Wise – Cannabis and Older Adults (2021): Produced by Active Aging Canada, this booklet was written specifically for Canadian older adults, answering questions and providing links and resources to further information.
  2. Virtual Care Guide for Patients (2020): In collaboration with patients and their families, the Canadian Medical Association, the College of Family Physicians of Canada, and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada have created this guide to help patients prepare for “virtual visits” with their doctor. It focuses on video visits, although it is also possible to receive virtual care through phone calls, text messaging, and email.
  3. Learning from the Lived Experiences of Aging Immigrants: Final Report (2020): This report presents the results of a series of Stakeholder Outreach Forums held over 2018-19 in four regions across Canada – Greater Montréal, Québec City, Calgary, and Greater Vancouver. The outreach forums provided an opportunity for discussion of issues faced by aging immigrants in Canada. This project was supported by a SSHRC Connections Grant. The project was led by Drs. Shari Brotman (McGill University), Sharon Koehn (Simon Fraser University), Ilyan Ferrer (University of Calgary), Émilie Raymond (Laval University), and Pam Orzeck (McGill University).
