Show us how you’ll be shining a (purple) light on adult abuse, neglect, and self-neglect!
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) on June 15 represents the one day in the year when the whole world voices its opposition to the abuse and suffering inflicted on adults, older adults, and seniors in our communities.
Every year, local Community Response Networks (CRNs) mark this important day with “purple power”, which can mean wearing your favourite purple shirt (the official colour of WEAAD), passing out irises (the official flower), and finding fun ways to spread awareness on adult abuse, neglect, and self-neglect prevention (BC CRN’s mandate).
Volunteer with your local CRN, wear purple, and post one of our custom BC CRN images to your social media. Even better, live post your content on June 15, tag @BCCRNS, and use the hashtag #BCCRNWEAAD2021.
The provincial organization and the local CRNs will be live posting to social media channels on June 15 as well, so please be sure you are following us! BC CRN can be found on Facebook and Twitter.
CRNs: Please ensure everyone involved in your WEAAD is staying pandemic safe. Ensure effective mask-wearing, physical distancing, appropriate group size, and access to hand sanitation products.
The countdown is on!
