Provincial Learning Event | May 17, 2022: Introducing the Council of Senior Citizens’ Organizations of BC – Plan with Seniors, Not for Them

Registration is now open for this session.

In this webinar, you will learn more about the Council of Senior Citizens’ Organizations of BC (COSCO BC) and the role it plays in advancing the social and physical welfare of older adults in BC through advocacy, education, and campaigns. You will also be introduced to the COSCO Health and Wellness Institute, which offers free workshops across the province. Most importantly, you will hear more about how you can make a difference for seniors in your community.

Elder abuse has been selected as one of three major priorities for 2022 and COSCO and the COSCO Seniors Health and Wellness Institute are working with the BC CRN to address this issue, which crosses paths with long term care standards, integrated primary health care, seniors’ housing, income security, fraud, and scams.

Barb Mikulec is committed to seniors’ advocacy and backing effective solutions to key seniors issues, such as economic security, affordable housing, and wellness. She is an executive with the National Pensioners’ Federation, a national, not-for-profit, nonpartisan, nonsectarian organization of 350 seniors’ chapters, clubs, groups, organizations, and individual supporters across Canada with a collective membership of 1,000,000 seniors and retirees devoted entirely to the welfare and best interests of aging Canadians.

Locally and in addition to her role as president of the COSCO Seniors Health and Wellness Institute, Barb serves on the Seniors Advocate Council of Advisors, as well as the provincial Board of the BC Retired Teachers Association.
