The CRNs are preparing to launch a series of presentations and workshops for youth and older adults on the topic of abuse and neglect. Presented by Regional Mentor Jane Osborne, the first presentation takes place (safely) in person on March 3 at the LSS Library in Ladysmith. Advance registration is required. Cranbrook CRN
The CRN, via the Cranbrook Age-Friendly Committee, celebrated Christmas last December at the Tamarack Mall. Volunteers handed out grab bags full of community information, including BC CRN merchandise, locally-made cookies and candy, and small toys for the kids. “It was lots of fun and gave us an opportunity to talk to lots of shoppers,” says Coordinator Sandy Zeznik. Tri-Cities CRN
The CRN hosted an online Valentine’s Day party for seniors on Feb. 14. The program included a variety of activities, including games, sharing stories, and opportunities to socialize. On Feb. 16, 145 Tri-Cities’ based seniors were treated to a free movie matinee showing of Death on the Nile at Cineplex Cinemas in Coquitlam, complete with popcorn. Castlegar CRN
The CRN and the Increasing Recreation In Seniors (IRIS) program developed and distributed free Personal Records In Medical Emergency (PRIME) kits to households through local drug stores. Since 2014, the CRN has distributed thousands of kits to the community. “The kits are a great way to add an additional measure of safety an [sic] ensure responders have important information about your health,” says Coordinator Sandi McCreight.
