Victoria is the provincial capital of British Columbia, and situated on the southern coast of Vancouver Island. The greater Victoria area include the municipalities of Burnside/Gorge, Downtown Victoria, Fairfield, Fernwood, Gonzales (Foul Bay), Harris Green, Hillside-Quadra, James Bay, Jubilee, (North/South), North Park, Oaklands, Rockland, and Victoria West. It has a population of just under 367,800 residents, 20% of whom are seniors 65+. Over 80% of the population are of European decent, and 15% representing a visible minority group. The city’s chief industries are technology, food products, tourism, education, federal and provincial government administration and services.
