The district of Sparwood in south eastern BC is located near Fernie and the Alberta border. It is the largest community on the Elk River with a population of approximately 3,700. The district also includes the communities of Michel, Natal, part of the Elk Valley, and Crowsnest. Sparwood’s community is built on coal mining, which is its main industry today.
