The Regional District of Mount Waddington covers 2,072,000 hectares that includes a section of the northwest coast of BC, and the northern part of Vancouver Island. It’s geographical reach spans the northern third of Vancouver Island. The district includes the municipalities of Alert Bay, Port Alice, Port Hardy, and Port McNeill. The district is rural, and has a combined population of just over 11,000 people. It takes its name from Mount Waddington, the highest peak of the Coast Mountain range.
