The Francophone CRN is one of BC CRN’s borderless CRNs whose mandate is to raise awareness on adult abuse, neglect, and self-neglect with the Vancouver Lower Mainland’s French-speaking communities. At the beginning of the last decade, francophones living in BC made up roughly 2% of the province’s population.
Between 2006 and 2016, the number of people who regularly spoke French at home went up by 21%. Despite this increase, francophone seniors, while experiencing similar age-related struggles as other older adults, may face additional isolation due to a lack of shared language with others in their communities.
