Located in the northeastern BC, Fort St. John is a city that sits in the upland prairies of the Peace River area, which is also the traditional home of the Danne-Za, or Beaver, First Nation. The city was also originally established as a trading post in 1794, making Fort St. John is the oldest European-established settlement in BC. It’s currently the most populated city in the Peace River area with just nearly 20,000 residents, 7% of whom are 65+.
