Cranbrook Community Response Network

Situated in southeast BC, Cranbrook is the largest urban area in the East Kootenay Region. About 20% of the area’s over 26,000 residents are seniors 65 and over. Originally a place populated by the Ktunaxa peoples, whose name is where Kootenay originates, the area that became Cranbrook was sold to Colonel James Baker and other European settlers. Baker renamed the area after his home in Kent, England. Cranbrook historically known as industrial hub for forestry and mining.
