Part of the Strathcona Regional District on Vancouver Island’s east coast, Campbell River is also known as the “Salmon capital of the World” due to a historic connection with the fishing industry and prominent local hatcheries. Set in Discovery Passage, Campbell River is close to several of the Discovery Islands, including Quadra and Cortes Islands. Campbell River is the third largest city on the island, with a population of more than 37,500, and the urban service centre and hub community for approximately 60,000 people living and working in our region (SRD).
