Trail Gatekeeper Program: Protocol for Making a Referral
The following guidelines have been established for making referrals:
1. Volunteer crisis line workers will take necessary information 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.

2. When making a referral, tell them you are a Gatekeeper, as there are different protocol for various calls to the crisis line. A copy of the questions you may be asked are on the next page. The more information you can provide the better.
3. Inform the volunteer if you want to remain anonymous. We will still contact you to inform you that there has been follow up, if requested.
